Diagnose, Treat, Cure, Love

We in healthcare are good at diagnosing and treating our patients.

And I would venture to say that we do a decent job of caring for our patients.

But how radical would it be if we were to love our patients?

And what would that look like?

Taking an extra minute

To listen?

To smile?

To touch?

How many of us would attend a CME event titled “Loving Your Patient”

Even More so, who could give such a lecture?

I think that for all our modern advances in the medical sciences,

we are at a loss when it comes to the art of healing.

I can look at a patient with knowledge from my years of schooling and training and practice.

But what will it take for me to look at a patient with Love?
